Sham shui po reservoir installation
The
long forgotten Sham Shui Po water reservoir built in 1904 was recently rediscovered in 2020. The grade 1 historical structure features rare romanesque architecture, becoming one of Hong Kong’s most famous heritage sites.
Partnering with Hong Kong Design Centre as part of their citywide creative business and community activation programme (BODW CityProg), OOA was commissioned to showcase their virtual reality rendering of the reservoir. Educating through design innovation, we wanted to create an interactive installation that would allow the viewers to immerse themselves into the reservoir, exploring the reservoir through virtual reality, 3D rendered and physical models.

Concept
Ideating with the OOA director, we wanted to create a multi faceted installation, drawing inspiration from the preserved architectural structure of the ex water reservoir. Conceptualising on how to best present the virtual reality experience, whilst creating an installation that was conceptually and visually inspiring.
Construction
After designing and 3D modelling the final design on Rhino, we created construction plans for the supplier.

I am an art director and interior architect from Hong Kong, based in London. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, I holistically integrate analogue and digital exploration to disrupt and challenge preconceived notions. My work is concept-driven, navigating the intersectionality between architecture, experiential design, and visual communication to curate a multi-sensory platform that delves into the intangible realm of the third space.
